The Cottonhouse Shakers
The Cottonhouse Shakers are a difficult band to pigeon hole. Under the blues tag they are unlike all other blues bands. Firstly the band have a jazz funk edge which is partly down to the bands bassist and keyboard player who were founding members of Blackburn jazz/funksters “False Negative”. Combine this with Gone Beggin’ frontman Gary Ward and Jazz/rock drummer Tim Jackson and you have an interesting mix. Completing the line up is the groups backing vocal duo “The Bluesettes” who throw a little soul into the mix.

The group boasts one of the most eclectic set lists you can find ranging ‘from Miles Davis to Hawkwind and from Hank Williams to Sesame Street – all done in their own inimitable style.’
Don’t be put off by the blues or jazz tag, the music that we play are popular, lively and not taken too seriously. Guitar/lead vox: Gary Ward. Bass:Derren Lee Poole . Drums:Tim Jackson . Keyboards : Neil Cannings. Female backing singers:”The Bluesettes”.
