Rodina

Rodina

Rodina will be returning to Limetree 2010 with a great live band and some special guests.  Originally from Co. Laois in Ireland and then emerging from the diverse Leeds music scene,  Rodina has a unique style of her own but has been compared to Morcheeba, Goldfrapp and legendary singer, Astrud Gilberto. Rodina’s sound is a cool blend of ambient, jazz and pop – with ethereal vocals and a great depth in production, the self-penned songs are catchy and embracing. The debut album was produced by Joe Tatton of funk /soul luminaries The New Mastersounds (also on Piano / Keyboards) and includes guest appearances by Mark Ronson’s “The Haggis Horns” among others. Rodina’s live band features the awesome Danny T laying down cahon / percussion, fat double bass lines courtesy of Emlyn Vaughan and the sweet pickings of Jonny Flockton on Acoustic Guitar. Dont miss Rodina at Limetree 2010!

some praise for “Over the Sun”….

“Produced by Joe Tatton, whose work with the Haggis Horns, New Mastersounds and Corinne Bailey Rae has proved his credentials for handling Rodina’s debut with a touch of class, ‘Over The Sun’ is nothing less than an assured debut and with a cast of excellent musicians onboard, Rodina are very definite contenders for the Summer festival stages previously occupied by the likes of Groove Armada and more recently Hot Chip. Roll on Summer…”

Northern Sky

“a solo singer who embraces acoustica and latino rhythms with a sweet aplomb….. Rodina unrelentlessly emphasizes quality and sweetness. Sort of like an angel holding court in a smokey, chilled underground bar. A classy performance ….”
