Me & My Friends
Emerging from Leeds’ local folk and roots scene, where they are gaining quickly in reputation and fanbase, Me and My Friends blend together disparate styles seamlessly into an entrancing, steaming whole. Charming, delicate folk melodies and layered vocal harmonies sit alongside the syncopated rhythmic elements of reggae, ska and highlife, sure to raise a smile and get some hips shaking.
The unlikely crossing of influences held together by imaginative musicianship, youthful energy and a heavy dose of sunshine, provided to you by guitarist and singer Nick Rasle, versatile cellist Emma Coleman, clarinetist Sam Murray, bassist James Grunwell and percussionist and beatsmith Fred Fitzf.
“This really is really brilliant stuff, get ready to remember this band” – Jack Bacon, Tuckshop Community Radio.
“Each member of the band turns their instrument to fresh and unexpected roles, the cello playing pulsating reggae basslines, the sax sweet, delicate harmonies, the guitar drumming out beats, the congas unobstrusively embellishing relaxed moments. At the heart of the whole performance however is an unselfconscious warmth and obvious delight emanating from the band… a treat” (review Leeds Music Scene).
