Leonard Jones Potential

Formed in 2006 with members from the northern periphery of the UK, The Leonard Jones Potential have been responsible for filling dance floors across the north of Scotland for the last few years. With a tight rhythm section providing hip shaking grooves, accompanied by the screaming Hammond of Captain Keys, tight harmonies of The Bad Ass Brass and the powerhouse vocals of Miss Michelle Davidson, the LJP really know how to tear the roof off.
Taking influences from original funk & soul legends, such as The Meters, Kool &The Gang and Charles Wright & The 103rd Street Rhythm Band, through to modern funk heavyweights such as Speedometer, The Bamboos and The Haggis Horns, The LJP’s sound is an authentic, fresh journey into funk & soul that will be sure to get you moving.
The LJP have a CV which reads; house band for the Inverness Ironworks, ‘New Soul City’ club night, main stage act at Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival, Edinburgh Jazz Bar guests and live session guests on ‘The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show’ to name a few.
The LJP are currently working on their first EP ‘IV1′ which is due out June 2011 which will see the band in an exciting collaboration with Lack of Afro. fr If you can’t wait that long then listen to the four tracks taken from the recent ‘The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show’ live sessionincluding the ‘re-souling’ of the Michael Jackson’s classic ‘Dont’t Stop til You Get Enough.’
The 8 piece line up that propels this energetic and powerhouse sound comprises of Mike Sharkey on drums, Anthony Standing on guitar, Andy Gajda on bass, Ruairidh McKay on keys, Barry Overstreet on Tenor/flute, Andrew Morgan on trombone, Dougie Hutchison, trumpet and all spearheaded by Michelle Davidson on vocals.
