Gold frank, otherwise known as Richard Elsby hails and wails from the overtly fashionable northern town of Leeds A year in to University whilst simultaneously managing the city’s finest skate emporium, his boss, a long time friend and mentor suddenly passed away.

Never one to miss an opportunity, Frank immediately left Uni to open his own store and capitalize on the huge customer base already set in place.

Within a year the shop was transformed in to a high-end clothing boutique that still managed to retain the same original customer base as the previous owner.

Twelve years later with accolades to best independent store and best menswear in the city on numerous occasions beating the likes of Harvey Nichols etc, Frank decided to sell the business to concentrate on his number one passion, that being music.

At a time where most independent shops are struggling Frank managed to sell the business for a profitable figure and is pleased that business for the new owner is as good as ever adding to the strength of the formula Frank set in place.

In the final few years of owning the store Frank utilized his brand knowledge by creating a lucrative side business of discovering up and coming American brands and introducing them to the British market.Through the successful work achieved in introducing the American brands to the UK, Frank was asked to visit the states to give feedback on new product, assist in design and to help represent the brand at trade shows in Vegas, Barcelona and Berlin.

In the summer of 2010, Frank completed and released his debut mix-tape “ GOLD BARS”.

Originally started as a free mix tape the intention was to contain no newly produced material, yet the final finished product contains a number of freshly produced tracks.

Gold bars eventually through its course, turned out as more of a life journey that introduces Gold Frank to the world. The tracks flow more like a story than either solely a mix-tape or an album and as the work was eventually to be distributed freely has a raw feel that can only be felt through such projects.

With the debut album fully underway the project (currently un titled) is heading for a summer 2011 release.

Gold Frank is currently a self taught tattoo artist, working daily in a studio in Leeds and from home.
