Doris Brendel Trio

Doris Brendel, a singer of rare talent and pedigree, has recently released her latest album, The Last Adventure, on Sky-rocket Records on 1st November 2010. The daughter of famed classical pianist Alfred Brendel, her distinctive vocals were the driving force behind 1990s alt-rockers The Violet Hour, who were signed to Sony when they released their now revered, classic album ‘The Fire Sermon’ in 1991.

Twenty years on, and just as The Violet Hour are finally receiving the acclaim their brilliance deserved, Brendel has forged ahead with a new, more exciting chapter in her solo career with the heavily-anticipated release of The Last Adventure.

Recorded with a circle of musicians that Doris has been working with extensively over the years, including Dave Beeson who produced her last album DB Driving, The Last Adventure has a gorgeously retro feel that perfectly compliments Brendel’s distinctive, husky vocals. Recorded in the old-fashioned way — no sequencers or click tracks for Brendel — at heart it’s a rock record that embraces a variety of styles. Think Joni Mitchell or Skunk Anansie getting down with the Beatles and Muse.
