Denney
This cheeky northerner has really been causing waves amongst the dance fraternity over the last couple of years, pushing his distinctive brand of quality Acid House and Techno.
It wasnt until the end of 2004 that things really started to pick up for Denney when Mixmag awarded him the title of “Youngest Mixmag Future Hero”, This was a real stepping stone, as a few weeks after the magazine had been published, He was asked to warm up for Fatboy Slim on his much acclaimed Palookeville album tour infront of 2000 people. Since the tour and the publicity that surrounded it Denney has played and can regularly be seen at such clubs as Gatecrasher Leeds & Sheffield (where he held a residency from 2006/2007), Circus, Back to Basics, Dirty Disco, Progression, Sugarshack, Hidden in London, and also secured a Bi-Monthly residency at The Pin Up Club in Sheffield in 2005. As well as these venues he has played abroad in Germany, Portugal and Ibiza – booked twice for Manumission in 2007 and Privilege in 2008.
He also collaborates with Jay Kilka under their “Lost” pseudonym, having remixed the DC10 anthem of 2008 of Rocha & Lewinger’s “Down Seq” on Leftroom and Berlin’s Great stuff, this gaining massive props from Ralph Lawson (who put it on his Space Terrace mix), Si Baker who put it on his Cocoon mix) and also from the legendary Francois K, who says it was “His favourite mix on the release”. His track “12 Hours” on Serif has gained massive support from Laurent Garnier and Groove Armada as well as getting 5/5 on DMC update. He has forthcoming tracks and remixes coming out in 2010 on 20:20 Vision, Back to Basics Recordings, 3am Recordings, Bulletdodge and Breakout Audio.
On top of that Denney promotes and is resident for his “Future” night in Teeside, the aim of the night is to bring him back to his home area to play, bring the fun back into House music and also bring friends and DJ’s he admires in to play with him such as Ralph Lawson, Layo & Bushwacka!, Nic Fanciulli, Steve Lawler, Claude Von Stroke, DJ Sneak, Jo Mills, Andrew Weatherall and Ewan Pearson.
The future is already looking bright with forthcoming high profile gigs at such clubs as, Back to Basics in Leeds, Shindig in Newcastle, Tall Trees in Yarm, Matter in London, Sankeys in Manchester and as well as various radio appearances, tracks and remixes.
